Why Rush Sigma Pi?
Brotherhood: Sigma Pi currently is one of the largest houses on campus with over 70 brothers.
Social: Last quarter alone, we had 3 sorority exchanges, 2 big parties, and many many other _brotherhood events.
Scholarship: Last quarter Sigma Pi had the 2nd highest GPA our of all 18 fraternities.
Sports: Sigma Pi has always been strong in athletics. We have won the Intramural and interfraternity softball championships 2 out of the last 3 years. We also have had strong showings in other sports including football, where we made it to the finals last quarter. We are currently 4th in IFC sports.
Why Rush a Fraternity?

Fraternity Facts
Greek organizations are, in general, a positive force on the campus, providing significant opportunities for student involvement, the development of close and lasting relationships with others, and for learning leadership skills.
Brotherhood:
- Good friends, forever. Because of the variety of things you do together, you get to know each other really well. Fraternities are often accused of being full of the same kind of people. The reality is that nowhere else can a man get to know as many different men as well as he can in his fraternity. There are also opportunities for making friends on other campuses among the other men with whom you share Sigma Pi – Convocation, Sigma Pi University, or just a visit to another chapter. Sigma Pi is basically a group of good friends, living, working, studying and having a good time together.
Job Advantages:
- Recruiters know that the fraternity experience prepares a man for success. Although fraternity alumni number less than 2% of the population, they make up 52% of theU.S. Senate, 33% of the House of Representatives and 75% of the top executives of the 500 largest business corporations. Alumni can also help a brother get a job.
Scholastic Advantages:
- There is an academic requirement for a member to be in good standing.
- Advice and tutoring from older brothers who know the courses and the professors.
- The Sigma Pi Educational Foundation Scholarships.
- The scholastic advantages of the fraternity get results. The Sigma Educational Files, which contains brother’s school work from years past, is an excellent resource for all your college studying.
Personal Growth:
- A chance to learn the value of teamwork; to learn leadership by doing; to develop a sense of responsibility by taking it on. Fine-tune your professional skills; organization, follow-through, speaking and making presentations in front of groups. The opportunity to learn from the advice and experiences of older brothers and your alumni. A place to go for help with your problems.
A Good Deal:
- Our fraternity house is less expensive than the dorms, less expensive than any local apartment, and is a whole lot more comfortable. The food is better, too. Our Chef, Ruben, has been worked at The Cheesecake Factory. Handling your social life through the chapter is almost always cheaper than paying for it one event at a time out of your pocket (i.e. group discounts).
Social Experience:
- No other college lifestyle offers the variety of social life that fraternities can. This social experience leads to the ability to handle yourself with confidence in all kinds of social situations.

- Tradition, heritage, a group with which to identify and of which to be proud. Sigma Pi is UCLA’s FIRST fraternity, and is a tradition that is unparalleled. We look forward to a future as distinct and prestigious as the past.

The Power of Two Percent
Since the founding of the American college fraternity movement in 1776, fraternities have grown to symbolize leadership, independence, scholastic achievement and service to their various campuses and communities.
Fraternity men represent a very small percentage, only two percent, of the male population in the United States. However, that two percent is a very powerful group of individuals! Fraternity men have gone on to hold many of the top positions in our nation, from the business world to the political arena.
- Approximately 80 percent of the top executives of Fortune 500 companies are fraternity men.
- The majority (71 percent) of those listed in Who’s Who in America are fraternity men.
- Seventy-six percent of current United States senators and congressmen are fraternity men.
- Forty percent of the 47 Supreme Court justices since 1910 have been fraternity men.
- One hundred of the 158 cabinet members since 1900 have been fraternity men.
- All but two United States Presidents since 1825 have been fraternity men.
It is certainly no surprise that today’s college and university students express a keen interest in the Greek system. The opportunities are endless, and the benefits speak for themselves.
